Welcome to Littlebit Software and Design. We are David and Amber Benton. David is a programmer with more than 20 years of experience and Amber is an illustrator and graphic designer. Together we make a fun and strong design and development team.

The challenge was to come up with a design that used color to help organize the events happening at the same time in different venues and on different days. . This client (Amber's brother) is a legally blind hiker who makes hiking sticks and canes. He requested a logo of a stickman carrying a hiking stick and wearing a backpack and glasses. A good percentage of the work we currently do is rebuilding existing logos. These are needed for many reasons but the most common is lost files. . As a part of the work we did for @tfkcharlotte during the recent @lets_makeamarkclt event we rebuilt a portion of their logo. They have a great logo and a clearly defined brand but we ran into a problem because their logo was built to be viewed only small or on the web. . We wanted to make it large for signs or banners - they might even like a billboard someday! Unfortunately the small bicycles and people began to look wonky. once enlarged. And to be able to send it to a CNC machine the paths needed to be cleaned up! . Swipe too see the before and after! . Have a logo that needs to be recreated? Today we participated in the @lets_makeamarkclt event. It was a true marathon of design! . We were placed on a small team that designed for @tfkcharlotte and the @charlotterecyclery and it couldn't have been a better fit for us. . This is one tiny piece of today's work - a reimagining of the exterior of the shop on a budget - using mostly paint and stencils. (Swipe for the reveal.) . There are exterior pipes along the building that when painted could provide a perfect wayfinding conduit leading visitors from the parking lot directly to the door - and of course painting the door to make sure you know you have arrived. . Rather than replacing the large sign above the door we proposed painting over it and then spray painting this simplified version of the logo using stencils. . We created a set of stencils from the bike chain that lead along the wall directly to the sign - they could even be used along the sidewalk or parking lot. Area 15 is known for spraypaint, right?! . The one new sign we recommended replacing in this area is the smallest one by the door. We came up with a welcome sign that includes branding essentials and shop hours - a real business sign! . When designing for print it is essential to print out your designs. I find screens very deceptive. What looks readable on a screen is often not in paper and proportions can often be off as well. . This is an ad design in progress for our friend and client Cindy of @shoebeedo.nc . Cindy recently won first place in the style category for the @ourstatemag Made In NC awards. We're thrilled for her but also thrilled that we get to move from designing for newspapers and banners to a real magazine. We will have our first real tear out! . p.s. Someone is getting married!! . So what better way to spend the extended @aigacharlotte #beerandbranding deadline and the rescheduling of the @lets_makeamarkclt designathon than to design a present just for him. Thanks #flo !! . If you are familiar with @hivebrewingco you know that Pat's beers are a marriage of craft and storytelling. He is an award winning home-brewer with some serious brewery dreams and we are very excited to be partnering with him in the Beer and Branding Showcase on October 9th. . Yesterday we designed this label for The Groom - Pat's New England styled IPA created in honor of his upcoming marriage. Pat says this beer is brewed so that the hops develop a distinct citrus flavor. We thought that sounded like the perfect pairing for cake and created a can design fit for the groom's table. .
